About Speak Up

Speak Up was created from love, necessity, and a deeply personal understanding of what it feels like when a child cannot fully express what they need, feel, or want to say.

I started building Speak Up because of my daughter and her speech impediment. As a parent, I have experienced the pain of watching my child struggle to communicate, knowing she had thoughts, feelings, needs, and emotions inside — but not always having the words or tools to express them. Those moments were hard for both of us. They were frustrating, emotional, and heartbreaking.

My daughter has used communication boards before, but I wanted to create something different. I needed a tool that felt safe, supportive, easy to use, and built with children and families in mind. I wanted something that was not filled with ads, distractions, or anything trying to sell products to my child inside the app. I wanted a communication space that respected privacy, protected families, and focused on one thing: helping children be heard.

That is why Speak Up exists.

Speak Up is designed to support children who need help communicating through picture-based choices, friendly visuals, sound cues, learning activities, and customizable communication tools. It is made for families, caregivers, educators, and children who deserve a simple and safe way to connect.

At its heart, Speak Up is more than an app. It is a bridge between a child’s thoughts and the people who love them. It is a tool for moments when words are hard. It is a way to reduce frustration, build confidence, and remind every child that their voice matters.
